Our '33 has cruized loaded with lugage to OK City, Key West, Ocean City Md, Syracuse NY, Columbus Oh, Louisville Ky, Pigeon Forge Tn, Daytona Beach Fla, York Pa, Knoxville Tn, Charlotte NC, and "all points in between" = ZZ Top. The 1985 Iroc, 700R4 trans fluid is clear and no burn odor as it was the day we bought the totaled donor Iroc with only 1069 miles. Sure, the exhaust is close but never had a problem in over 72,000 miles/26 years in our '33. Jim is guilty as charged in the quarter miles DAZE.Įver since the round finned aluminum coolers came out, I use a 18" located on the frame rail near the trans tail piece. Never put a trans cooler in front of the AC condenser. I have noticed in many 1985 and up vehicles the trans coolant line is aluminum running up FRONT of the radiator and circling back, not passing through the radiator.
Running hot trans fluid through the radiator adds to the cooling issue. Tazhog/Jeff, you are very correct.here comes the but.most street rods today have AC.
